Currently there is quite a bit happening in Liberia.  On a national level, Liberians will be celebrating the birth of Liberia's first President, Joseph Jenkins Roberts, who was born March 15, 1809. ACFI is also looking forward to a visit from a missions team of 16.  The team will be in Liberia from March 6th through the 13th. In the aftermath of the robbery at their village on January 5, 2009; the orphanage is in need of many necessities such as clothing, school supplies, medicines and hygiene items.  The missions team will be bringing many of these items with them as well as purchasing what they can locally.

As you may have read, adoptions were recently suspended in Liberia until lawmakers can revise adoption policies. Christian Adoption Services and ACFI are working diligently with a coalition of adoption agencies in Liberia to encourage lawmakers to enact adoption laws that protect the children of Liberia and enable adoptive families to bring their children home.

The current situation has provided an opportunity for adoption workers to educate the Liberian public about adoption through the media.
