Children at the Daniel Hoover Children's Village Mission Boarding School have settled into their new school year over the past month thanks to your faithful donations. As a sponsor who lives a great distance both in miles and in life circumstances from the child you support, you may at times wonder if your efforts to make a difference in the life of a Liberian child have any impact. May the following two letters encourage you that a group of people bonded together in a common goal to serve Christ can have a profound impact!
The following is a praise and thanks letter from Charlotte Friends of ACFI written on October 15th.
Today, we praise God and thank God for His provision manifested through your concern, prayers and financial support. In June we shared the need with you that African Christians Fellowship International (ACFI) was mandated by the Liberian government to erect a perimeter fence (measuring 900 yards) and to install 250 new bunk beds. Failure to do so would result in a loss of licensure and probable closure of the Daniel Hoover Childrens Village Mission Boarding School. The original need was for $24,000 for the fence and $9,000 for the beds.
Our Charlottebased team hoped that through our efforts God would provide perhaps one third to one half of the need. Our initial effort to raise funds was a screening of the acclaimed film about the end of the Liberian Civil War in 2003 Pray the Devil Back to Hell held June 21st at Westminster Presbyterian Church. God humbled us by providing over $10,000 (about 1/3 of the total need) on the FIRST NIGHT! God continued to amaze us by providing not only the total $33,000 needed through our efforts, but He raised an additional $2,000 for project cost overruns before they occurred. He provided support from over 65 families in several states.
Our God is an amazing God. The fence is done, the beds are in place, and we are marveling at the speed in which God brought this all to pass. The Ministry of Education granted the new license, and indigent and orphaned children returned to the Hoover campus on September 15th for the new school year. We thank you and offer our gratitude for your compassion for our brothers and sisters in Christ in Liberia, for your financial support and for your continued interest and prayers.

The following is a praise and thanks letter from ACFIs founder, Bishop T. Edward Kofi written on September 26th.
We are thankful for God's great provision! It is with joy that we write this letter to let you know that the Daniel Hoover Village Mission School opened on September 15, 2009 with accreditation from the Ministry of Education. For the past few days, children have been arriving, and the spirit around the mission school has been one of great excitement. The children and families are so thankful to see the new fence up that will provide the children and staff with increased protection. It is also a thrill for the children to see their new bunk beds, especially since most would not have even a mattress to sleep on if they weren't at the school.
The main need that still exists as they start the new school year is a vehicle to transport teachers to and from the mission each day. Please be in prayer that enough money would be raised quickly to provide for this need.
The students, teachers and caretakers are anxious to begin a new year. They are thankful for sponsors like you who make it possible for them to have food and go to school. They are eager to learn about the love of Jesus and how they can live for Him and make a positive contribution to their country.
Adoptions are still on hold in Liberia at this time. The children who have been matched with adoptive families continue to be in the care of people from ACFI churches. These children are starting school near where they live as well.
Thank you for your continued support on behalf of the children of Liberia!
T. Edward Kofi
