    September 2012 Newsletter

    Philippians 4:19
And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

It's that time again! The beginning of a new school year. Both here at home and in Liberia, parents have sent their kiddos off and into the classroom. At the Daniel Hoover Mission School and the Oscar and Viola Stewart School for the Deaf, this is an exciting time of transition for many students, both new and returning, who may otherwise not have an opportunity for education. The new school year began in early September, but the children arrive throughout the month of September. Our Liberian Sponsorship Coordinator, Queen, has asked that the sponsors please pray for health and safety as the children return to the boarding schools. I know that the teachers and administrators also need to be covered in prayer. We are blessed to have these men and women at both mission homes! They have incredibly difficult jobs and unreliable compensation, and they teach for the love of the children.

In addition, we learned on the June mission trip that some of the students were not going to be able to attend the school this year if they did not receive assistance with the minimal school supply needs that ACFI asks families to contribute each year as their only cost to have children at the boarding schools. The families are asked to contribute a bag of rice, a container of oil and a uniform each semester. Thanks to a generous contribution of $5,000, these needs will be covered for the families who cannot afford them. The Lord is so faithful to supply all of our needs.

On August 24, 2012, which was Liberia's flag day, some of the children who were at Daniel Hoover gathered together to color Liberian flags. You may remember that Liberia was founded by freed American slaves, and therefore the country's government, constitution, and flag are all heavily influenced by their American counterparts. It brings me so much joy to see the smiles on the childrens faces as they color and celebrate a holiday together.

We have also exciting news from Pastor Harrington Jududoe, the director at the Deaf Mission! "Since the closure of school for the summer break, we have been working at our agriculture project. We have planted some cabbages, collards, pumpkins, peanuts, sweet potatoes, and more moringas. We have also continued with the constant weeding of the first ones that we planted. Every month we fertilize them with pig manure and they are growing very fine. The church is doing fine and everyone extend their greetings to you. We never cease to pray for you during our regular prayer services. We are now preparing for the reopening of school. We are expecting more kids this year."

It is such a joy to see the fruit of God's faithfulness through your contributions. Please continue to pray for the agricultural efforts at the Deaf School these amazing crops can provide much needed nutrition to the children. As always, we are so thankful for your faithful sponsorship. It is such a blessing to the children to know that someone knows their name and prays for them.

    With Joy,
