    Give Thanks!

Eating dinner at the Oscar and Viola Stewart School for the Deaf.

I know it's cliché to focus on giving thanks simply because it's the Thanksgiving season... but hopefully we are giving thanks to our most worthy Father all the time. There are just too many wonderful updates to share from Liberia. We cannot help but share them with you and be grateful for all He is doing!

*We have to top our list with a 6-yr-old Liberian girl named Alice. This little one is going to get a life saving surgery done to replace her esophagus after drinking caustic soda a year ago. Realizing Alice wasn't going to survive much longer, the government of Liberia came to our organizations for help in September. With the assistance of Samaritan's Purse, Alice and her mom will travel to Kenya soon for the surgery.

*Through our program, 73 children are able to eat 3 basic meals a day, go to school and learn about Jesus. We are so excited about this and want to thank you for being a part of caring for the kids at the mission homes. It matters... and we trust that God will reward your faithfulness with His joy!

*The agricultural initiatives our mission team worked on in May have been successful, and the mission home adults and children have taken it upon themselves to plant even more vegetables on their own. This is a great source of additional nutrients for them!

*A third round of the micro-loan program will be launching soon to help 2 groups of individuals start or grow their small businesses.

*The computer training our mission team did in May has resulted in a HUGE increase in communications between our US and Liberia staff. We are now receiving detailed reports on the mission homes and sponsors are even able to email their sponsored children and receive updates from them. I cannot express to you how truly incredible this is! It is really helpful to be able to communicate in this way.

Newest view of the work on the trade school
*The trade school at the Deaf Mission is scheduled to be dedicated in February 2013. A good amount of the funds that were raised for the last mission trip projects went to help with this construction.

*The House of Representatives in Liberia has passed a new adoption law and the Senate will vote on it in January. Our prayer is that it would pass and Christian Adoption Services/ACFI would be accredited to process new adoptions.

*A sponsor was able to to raise $5000 to be donated to kids who couldn't afford to pay the minimal fees to attend school at the mission homes. What a significant help and blessing for those children!

You see, we truly couldn't help but share these things and honor the Lord with our grateful hearts! Thank you for investing in the children of Liberia. If you are looking for ways to be a blessing even further, you could consider making an end of the year Christmas donation of $25-$100. We'd like to make sure both homes can have a Christmas celebration as they have in past years. Usually this is a fun meal with juice and meat dishes; a real treat! Any extra funds that come in will go toward the continued construction on the Trade School roof and fence. If the opportunity excites your heart, you can submit a donation here.

We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near; men tell of your wonderful deeds. Psalm 75:1
