The Beauty of the Body of Christ

The medical mission  in Bomi County
    September 2013 Newsletter

"So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-14

As I look at my life, I'm amazed at how the Lord has used, and continues to use, so many of his people to love, encourage, teach, and bless me. Isn't it amazing that He is so very faithful to each one of us... that He seeks us and pursues us, using tangible people to be his hands and feet, because of His great love? With the updates this month, I see the exact same thing on a much larger scale. God is using so many of His people to love,

The medical team from Tacoma, WA

encourage, teach, and bless our brothers and sisters in Liberia. He draws the body of Christ from all sorts of random places with the same goal and purpose; to make His name great among all the nations, and to love "the least of these" in Jesus' name. What an exciting thing to get to be a part of! Thank you to each one of you who has obeyed the Lord and is blessing others in Jesus' name!

A church in Tacoma, WA has been involved with ACFI in Liberia for a number of years and recently sent a medical missions and construction team who were able to do some significant projects. The medical mission was launched in Bomi County, the Northwestern part of Liberia, for a week and a half. Over 2000 Liberians were blessed with medical services and by hearing the gospel, including many from the Muslim community. Because of the trip, a new church was started!

    Tile floor being installed
The construction team took on some of the many roofs which were badly in need of repair. Doors and tile floors were installed in the school building at the Daniel Hoover Children's Village, and sewer pipes were replaced, just to name a few of the many projects that were tackled. What a blessing to know that we are not alone in our efforts to be a help to ACFI and their desire to serve the children of Liberia! There are plenty more projects to take on in the future, and we'd like those of you who feel the Lord asking you to step out in this way to pray and consider joining a team to travel to Liberia in mid-May, 2014.

Project Hope is yet another way that God continues to bring His people together to give sacrificially for needs to be met in Liberia. At this point, $15,670 has been committed! Some of the funds have been sent for maintenance needs, new school desks, and teacher and caretaker stipends. Thank you for making this possible! We still hope to reach the goal of $30,000 by the end of October. Online donations can be made at www.africanchildsponsorship.com , or you can send a check (write "Project Hope 2013" in the memo line) to Christian Adoption Services Attn; Brenda High, 624 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd. Suite 134, Matthews, NC 28105.

The completed roof project at DHCV
The new school year has begun for the children. Multiple projects were completed in anticipation of the children's return with help from Project Hope 2013 as well as from several churches and individuals that partner with ACFI. The roof on the auditorium at DHCV is complete, tile has been installed in several classrooms, and new school desks are being made. The Ministry of Health has asked ACFI to assist the country by allowing a number of street children to attend DHCV. We do not know at this time how many children will be in attendance this year, but with their return to school happening now, we will have more updates on this next month.   What we do know is that 113 children are currently being sponsored, and several of the students who have graduated are now being sponsored through the new College Fund to be able to attend college! Very exciting!

So, you see, this update truly is full of the goodness of the Lord... His people serving and giving to make the lives of His children on the other side of the globe more beautiful for His glory! I hope you are encouraged by the way God is drawing people from all sorts of places to serve side-by-side for His purposes! I know I am.
