    Merry Christmas!

Snow is falling silently as I type, and though many of you in the southern US along with those we support in Liberia know no such scene, isn’t it incredible that we are all linked together in unity by our Savior, no matter where we may be from? Certainly, we should celebrate him all year around, but there is a unique joy in knowing that during this season, believers in all parts of the world come together and rejoice that God sent our Savior to be among us and make a way for us to be free and redeemed!

In November, African Christian Fellowship International held its 30th anniversary party at the ACFI headquarters church in Lancaster, SC. It served both to remember the life of Daniel Hoover, a great servant and major donor for whom the Daniel Hoover Childrens’ Village is named, as well as to celebrate all that the Lord has done in the past 30 years through this ministry. Many individuals gathered to honor and thank the Lord for his faithfulness. Many of the children who had been cared for in the mission homes of ACFI and were adopted from Liberia into families here in the US were able to join the celebration as well. As a special treat, the Liberian Boy’s Choir sang during the party as well… though they are boys no longer, but men now!

We are so grateful to ACFI. This sponsorship program exists only to assist this African ministry as they strive to obey God’s call to spread the gospel among African nations and to care for the marginalized, including the children that you have chosen to support. Their staff are the ones facing the great needs every day, right where it exists. We are honored to try to come alongside and support them.

In other news, Queen Edwina Sieh (daughter of the directors of the Daniel Hoover Children’s Village mission home, and a great help with the sponsorship program) just graduated from college with her B.S. in Biology! Many of you who have traveled to Liberia know her. We congratulate her! She has worked for many, many years to earn her degree and further her education. Three other ladies who graduated from the mission school continue to work on their college goals and are entering their second semester of the year soon. We are proud of their hard work! Education beyond high school is extremely rare in Liberia, yet holds many wonderful opportunities for these individuals and breaks the cycle of poverty.

Each Christmas, it has been a goal to provide the children at both mission schools a special Christmas party. This year, thanks to several generous corporate and personal donations over “Giving Tuesday,” funds were provided so that all the children may enjoy a feast and an extra-special holiday party! Additionally, the donations made it possible to repair the security wall at the Deaf mission home, which had been knocked down during hurricane Matthew, as well as to help complete the ACFI Bible College. Thank you to those generous donors! We thank the Lord for your hearts to address these needs with such joyfulness!

We look forward to sharing pictures of the children at their Christmas party in our next newsletter. Until then, we pray that no matter where you are, you know the unity we all have in Jesus and the joy we experience as we celebrate his birth! How grateful I am that he came to set us all free!

    With JOY,
    Corrie Luebke

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11

    Merry Christmas!
