    August Updates

    07/29/2018

    Roof damage prior to work.
    Dear Friends,

We are so grateful for all of the generosity that has been poured out over ACFI after the previous newsletter. As you can see in the photos, the structural repairs are desperately needed, and thanks to the Lord's provisions through you all, work was already able to begin several weeks ago! We still have a large quantity left to raise to complete the work, but are praising Him for such an encouraging start!

In July, a team of ACFI partners from Tacoma, WA traveled to Liberia for  a medical missions trip. It was while they were there that the first Building Repair funds came in, and the team was able to pitch in and help to start the work! The students are soon to gear up for another school year, and our Seniors have graduation on August 11! This will be such an exciting ceremony and we look forward to sharing those pictures as we recieve them. The returning school children are in need of school supplies and book bags, of course! Bishop Ed Kofi's daughter, Patience, is lovingly collecting new or gently used bookbags to send in a shipping container in late August. She is also collecting funds for school supplies, as well as new mattresses for the kids dorms! Patience has a generous partner in Charlotte who has 100 mattresses to sell for $12 a piece. If you feel led to donate, please go  here (www.africanchildsponsorship.com) to donate to the building fund, or send mattress or school supply checks and bookbags directly to:

    Stewart Bridges
It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I share the news of a dear Liberian brother who has gone to be with the Lord. Stewart Bridges was adopted from Dixville in 2008 when he joined the Bridges family in Charlotte, NC. Stewart had moved back to Liberia to pursue his dream of joining the Liberian National Soccer Team when he was in a motorcycle accident on June 27. The ACFI family is continuing to pray for the Bridges, and remembering Stewart's peaceful smile.

I was reminded of the faith of Liberian Christians in this verse: "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Cor. 12: 9-10)

Money is needed for major repairs, hearts are aching; but the Lord has always provided and sustained.

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers.
